When carrying a umbrella, there are certain best practices that you should follow. Tip #1 - Use the right sized umbrella. Be cognizant of your surroundings, as larger umbrellas don't work well in smaller spaces. Tip #2 - Maintain your focus when holding a umbrella. Your eyes should be focused on what is in front of you instead of on the brim of your umbrella. Tip #3 - Raise and lower your umbrella. Taller people should lift their umbrellas when walking by shorter people and vice versa. Tip #4 - Shake out your umbrella before bringing it inside. This will help your umbrella to dry more quickly as well. Tip #5 - Leave your leaning by the door. It's customary to leave umbrellas near wet shoes or wet clothing. Tip #6 - Open umbrellas with caution. Just make sure nobody is in very close proximity as you open one or they may get struck in the eye.
